Hello would like to know your comments on the safety video [?]
As I had a passenger , who was on my flight (GATWICK) and said , do you show this video to your JFK business passengers !!

I've made about 6 trips to/from JFK this year in PE and UC and I'm pretty sure the video was shown everytime - may have been 1 or 2 manual demos due to problem.

Not sure quite what he was getting at - is there something that doesn't seem right for a JFK passenger in business specifically. I quite like the video but always seems more in tune with West coast with it's casual approach.

Maybe he was talking about the guy smoking in the toilets as there is a smoking ban in NY - dunno.

I told the passenger , the reason we have a funny safety video .
Is so passengers pay attention , as its not the normal safety video you
would see on other airlines (virgin flair) and the little passengers like it :) .

I think the style of the video fits very well with VS's brand values. I can't imagine that the style of the safety video will factor in anyone's choice about which airline they fly with, and if people don't like the video on style/humour grounds then they're unlikely to like the rest of VS's 'presentation'.

The video is quite good, its quite entertaining to watch the first one or two times. Which is good, thats when you want people to watch it - people who are flying for the first time. Also the light-heartedness (sp?) of it makes it scary for those with fears of flying.

Personally I quite like the Manual Demo's that Alastair gets his crew to do. But then I love the Cabaret act he based them on too.

I have been a victim of Alastair (FSM) demo [:I] ,
most crew like it , but if its your first flight as crew , you get a bit lost !!!
eg..its all in different order to the manual .

When does Alastair perform? Can we make bookings?

Edited to add:
I like the video. An update would be nice to make the jokes (characters mainly) more up to date.

Am I right in thinking there used to be a version with Ewan McGregor and Leslie Phillips doing the voices? I am getting a bit tired of Vic Reeves and Danni Behr.

the video on VS is brilliant it does its job well:

- gets the attention of the pax through the music and cartoon look.
- gets the message across of what to do
- and puts nervous flyers at ease with humour and a funny aspect.

The video is super and certainly beats the stuffy conservative vidoes you get on all the other airlines! well done VS its brilliant

Maybe Virgin should add a new category to their Virgin Hero's - most entertaining Inflight Safety Demo.

I like the style of the safety video,

*It has humour.
* It has vic reeves doing the male voice.
*I like the bit when the mum slaps on the oxygen mask on the child:D

I also liked the old safety video, when the pilot had the very POSH voice.

The BA A319 safety video is so crap its crap, the virgin one is much better, especially the wierd terminal-ness.

I remeber one used in either 2000 or 1998 (I ain't sure if I flew virgin in 98) where the pilot denied he looked like the pilot in the video, although why I [pointed that out I have no idea, I just remember it invlved a floating head in a blue circle.

This is the resaon why virgin is so great - it's different!

Old Video was:

Leslie Phillips
Sussanah York
Ewan MacGregor

Did like that version over the current version.

Thanks,
Richard

I do like the safety video however it does get a bit samey if you fly a lot!

I'm sure any VS Crew here can quote every line in that video!

I like the fact Alastair does a manual safety anouncement- as its funny for new pax and FF

I like the video also, its a little tradition when starting a VS flight. Its much more fun, and probably more effective than more conservative videos. Continentals is unintentionally funny - its all hair and teeth. You still hear people chuckle every time they show it, normally when the little kid has his life jacket put on, or when the poeople ignore the smoking guy.

Was also going to comment on Alistair's demo, then I was on the same flight as fozzyo. Would love to listen to it again to see if he has any new "material".

For those getting tired of the video, there is some good news.

The crew will be giving manual safety demos between the 23rd and the end of every month.

Variety is the spice of life.

Jetstreamer,

There were several people on my last LHR-BOS flight in UC which chanted "Remember to remove your high heeled shoes" in unison... :)
