What does this mean?

I was recommended to an availability tool listing how many seats were available for forthcoming flights. I believe this information is coming from the SABRE system.

Thing is... I don't quite know exactly what it's telling me.

Can anyone decifer this and tell me what a '/' means or an 'X'??? I need to know what all of the codes mean if possible.

Thanks,

JC

If you are using the Availability Tool program then just hit the Help button (next to the Seatmap button) for an explanation of the codes.

Interesting.

I would assume this is an UC Suite config 744 (20 rows of seats) - only UC (J class) shown

If this is the case then:

ADGK are the seat identifiers
The X means sold (or not available)
The / means that the seat does not exist
NW means 'Next to Window' - NWB - is 'Next to Window Bulkhead'
NA means 'Next to Aisle' - NAB - is 'Next to Aisle Bulkhead'
: is just a seperator to denote a window or an Aisle

So a line such as:

:X / : 5:/ X : - 5A and K both sold (D and G do not exist)
NW NA :16:NA NW : - Window, Aisle, Aisle, Window - 16ADGK all available

The non '/' add up to 29 seats.

Nice try.

Thanks Blackcat - just looked at help - much more useful than guesswork. Didn't know about the seatmap.

NA means Non Smoking Aisle

Always prefer the non-smoking variety myself - smoking aisles at 30,000ft make me nervous :D

Thanks guys...

Just bought my ticket for Christmas... UC BOS to LHR, not sure what type of plane though, only has one level so I don't think it's a 747? Any ideas on what I might be flying on?

James

I've noticed that on flights which run a "snooze zone", those seats are almost always blocked out with an X on the seatmap, regardless.

I'm guessing that this is to stop travel agents who are unaware of the snooze zone from giving these seats out to people who want to eat on the plane.

Cheers,
Mike

This is true it can be a nightmare on a full flight when pax have been seated in snooze without knowing it.

Once on board it causes confusion and general seating problems.
