Hi

If we fly SFO-LAS with VX, with an onward flight later in the day LAS-LGW with VS, can our cases be checked through to LGW when we're checking in at SFO?

Reason being we're looking at a flight getting us into LAS early morning - don't want to hang around until VS checkin opens, wasn't sure if the cases can be checked all the way through or whether we'll have to wait and check them in again at the VS desk?

Thanks
Andy

Nope it's a money saver used by many LC airlines.

you can only do it if you've brought the through ticket all on the same ticket.. ie I couldn't do it as I'd book my flight with Virgin Atlantic though them and the Virgin America flight through Virgin America

yes in theory that's the case... it was what I was told. Strangely on my return flight with US from LAS to SFO then Virgin Atlantic from SFO to LHR, US let me check my bag the whole way through. They then lost if... so it might be better if you collect it and re-check it in. I did this flying from LHR to SFO then SFO to LAS and it was rather stress free
