250 Bonus Miles for using OLCI

I don't think this has been mentioned before - I am sure someone will point it out, if it has. [:D][;)]
From today until the end of February 2008 you get 250 bonus FC points if you use OLCI.
Full details here. I think you may have to be logged into your FC account to view.
Finally, a decent incentive to use OLCI. [y]
Every little helps, as they say. [:w]

Thanks Nick [y]
Doesn't apply to reward bookings though.
Some of the T & C's for this are a bit silly too:
9. Miles will appear on members' account and will be displayed on members' statements.
....gosh really, well I never [:w]

LOL - good spot James.
What about number 10? Miles are non-transferable and non-redeemable.
If I can't redeem them, why have I got them in my account. [?][:?]

Not only are they non-reedemable, but non-collectable as well, if my experience is anything to go by; Online check-in has been 'unavailable' for my last three trips. Who needs an incentive?

If you read
this thread, and a few other similar ones, it seems that perseverance is the key with OLCI.

Hi Nick
I thank you for the tip. Perseverance has never been a great virtue of mine but I will try a few more times on my next trip.
I do suspect however that certain flights are blocked for OLCI. For example VS11 (LHR-BOS) on Sept 27: For the entire 4 months duration of my booking, seat allocation was unavailable, suggesting perhaps that the aircraft type was not known until the eleventh hour.

That is an interesting thought. VS have taken a lot of stick on here from people who have pre-booked seats then, due to an aircraft change, have had their selections deleted.
Maybe now, if they don't know which type of aircraft is going to do a particular route, they are blocking pre-selection?

I thought VS A/C where allocated 14 days in advance, or at least they used to be [:?]

I think BOS is a favourite random plane location - last time I flew this route I had a B744 out and A346 back.

250 per sector?
The page implies each physical use of the system
every time you use Online Check In, 250 bonus miles will be added to your Flying Club balance

I checked in to my flight from LAX yesterday and did not notice anything.
Does this apply from the US as well?

It does talk about to celebrate the LHR changes, so it could only be ex-London.

I love this condition:
'Virgin Atlantic reserves the right to refuse the granting of bonus miles for any reason.'
[?]
What the hell does this mean? How is that a 'fair' condition?
The attitude of VS does stink sometimes.
David.

So, what if I do OLCI for a cash booking which has been upgraded with miles for both sectors, at the time of booking?
It doesn't seem to have my FC number associated with it at all, as it won't appear in my list of bookings, and I know that I'll have to phone up and get the flown miles and TPs for the originally ticketed cabin credited anyway.

T&Cs say 'No'
From VS Website
Offer excludes any tickets purchased using either full or part mileage, inclusive of full redemption tickets, tickets upgraded using miles or Miles Plus Money tickets.
T&C's also say bonus is applicable from all services excluding departures from Grenada and Tobago so not just ex-LON.

Hmm - so if I booked, paid, check in online, then upgraded at the airport using miles would one get the bonus?

That thought occurred to me too Slinky - personally I think VS have woven a bit of a complicated web on this one.

My 250 miles appeared in my statement online, so it is possible to check in online and then change your seat at the desk and still get the points

How long do these take to get posted? I flew last week and nothing has appeared yet.

Had no issues with this at all, mine appeared 24 hours after checkin, and both legs were added even with a seat change...nice easy miles

I agree, both times I changed seats, and the miles were on the account within 48 hours, both on the way to the US and back.
As said before, an easy 500 miles. Will do this again in Jan.
