It would appear yesterday's VS033 to Antigua ran out of runway into the mud, causing a 24-hour delay to the returning VS034.
Anyone heard any further details?

really interesting, as I was at Gatwick yesterday, and didnt see anything going on. I saw the Antigua leave, on the newly painted 747. We didnt have any delays because of this, but I may have missed something. I was on the last flight out yesterday and we left on time. Maybe it was coming into ANU, they are tight runways

Yes, I believe it was at the ANU end rather than at Gatwick.

Would appear that VS are not the only victims at ANU

Well just to copy what was said on PPRUNE, the VS aircraft didn't run out of runway while taking off, only while backtracking at low speed, so this isn't like one of those serious incidents.

Seems like its caused the cancellation of the VS27/8 MCO flight again today!

Had to happen sooner or later, the turning is just ridiculous for a 744, the new taxiway will be finished soon I hope.

Link to a story, confirming it happened, and that it wasn't a major incident. (Unless, of course, you were on the plane, or hoping to be on it in the next day or two. [;)] )
Thanks to cc.com for the link.

Not really - The VS27/28 being cancelled today has taken care of any future delays this problem may have caused.
All Ops as of tomorrow should be back to schedule..[:D]

Well, Pete's original post says 'yesterday' and as that was dated December 9, presumably it was December 8. the pprune link also seems to confirm that

I came in from ANU this morning on VS34 having watched VS33 land on the 8th with friends on board. I did hear mutterings on the beach that a plane had been grounded in ANU but I think that was on the 1st Dec which then left on the 2nd. I was on the flight LGW-ANU 1st Dec[:0]. Great flight home as had our best friend opposite me.[:D]
