I think I've seen the answer to this question on here somewhere but can't seem to find it so sorry to ask it again. Can you book reward flights using miles from more than 1 account?

Thanks

Yes you can. Each leg of a reward flight is a separate entity, so you can book one leg from one account and the return from another. In effect a 50/50 split.

Whilst each leg of a reward booking is a seperate entity, you cannot pool miles from more than one FC account to get the required number for your reward flight (if this is what you were wondering).

I know some people who have managed to pool, or borrow miles from 'relatives'** accounts on BA Exec Club, but Virgin don't allow it on Flying Club miles.

James

** = relative who happens to work in the next office / for you. They can conveniently become a 'cousin' when you are a few thousand miles short for a reward booking on BA.

Well you can 50/50 on each sector, so in net effect a 75/25.

Indeed.

So, a 100,000 return (50,000 per sector) CAN be funded by 25,000 from one account and 75,000 from another. Or, in other words, a 50,000 one way sector can be funded 25,000/25,000 - each from different accounts.

Sorry Kraken, not sure who told you that you couldn't pool miles towards awards. As long as it's 50/50, you can [y]

OK I'm a little confused. What I want to do is buy 2 return UC rewards to LA using 3 accounts all of which have about 70K miles in them. Can this be done?

Thanks

No. Sorry Miopyk, the maths just don't work.

With 3 x 70k, you have 210k miles, but you need them in at LEAST 25k 'blocks' to be allowed (ie: 25/75 or 50/50). With accounts at 70k (just short of the next 25k multiple) it can't be done. Perhaps 'topping them up' with buying miles could help...

Paul puts it nicely; that is understand the rule and related TCs.

VS FC (unlike many other programs) allows booking one-way tickets at the half the return rates (miles-based). So a family of four could use miles from all four to book tickets for just two of them, each of the four buying a segment.

Things to consider, change/cancel fees as you would be messing with two bookings.

Very interesting ... does this also apply to family Ag accounts with FC Au? Say I have 90,000 miles and the no. 1 has 15,000 in his, in this circumstance I had thought I could merge them both to get a 100k reward ticket?

Thanks

I know you can pool miles from your own Au account and your SSA account in any ratio as I've done that, so I guess the same is true with Au family accounts as well.

The miles are first moved from your SSA into your own Au account, then you can spend them as normal.

Yes, as James says, you can combine *any* amount/combination from an SSA Ag account, but not just any Silver account. For the 'any combination' scenario, it can ONLY be from the one linked SSA.

Regular Silver accounts (ie: another member of your family's account) can only be used for a 50% spend ratio on a reward.

I was given dud info about pooling miles - so apologies for the inaccurate post above.
Any idea why the split has to be 50/50 - is it to stop people effectively being able to transfer miles between accounts? (i.e. use 42k from one [active] account & empty another [dormant] account someone has got 8k sitting in?)

Could someone clarify my situation please.

I am looking to upgrade from economy to UC out and economy to PE return LHR-EWR next April using miles from 3 accounts

There are three of us and we have 15k,67k and 62k miles totaling 144k between us

I believe I would need 40k each for these upgrades (30k for UC upgrade and 10k for PE) so the question is can we swap/gift miles to each other or can FC do this when I book our tickets?

Thanks

Richard
