Hello all,

I've just hit Ag for the first time and see what you mean about getting hooked... I now find myself talking friends into flying VS with me on an upcoming trip to New York, so I can maintain my status and get closer to that 100K reward flight :)

I have a few of basic quesions. Apologies if these have been covered before.

1. I can take a guest to PE check-in, right?

2. If I book through VS but it's operated by CO, do I still get the full complement of tier points and miles?

And finally...

3. I fly mostly for fun so I'm usually on an economy ticket (I prefer quantity vs. quality). What's the etiquette when 'upgrading' my check-in? Do I need to flash my card or will they recognise the FC number on my eTicket?

Thanks.

Hello ockey and welcome to V-Flyer

1. A guest who is travelling on the same flight as you has never been a problem in my experience. Several non silver guests may be frowned upon, however.

2, I have never done it so, will leave others to answer this.

3. As you approach the PE check in, the first person you encounter will be the security person. They used to be quite hot on checking your FC card if you were checking in at a desk 'above your class'. This seems to have been relaxed recently, but it is always wise to have your card handy.

Happy flying.

Regarding question 2, the answer should be yes as long as you are ticketed in the required class and if the flight is a codeshare, since you are booking through VS, the flight will have a VS prefix.

From the terms and conditions:

g) Continental Airlines
Earning miles:
Miles will be issued to Flying Club members when travelling in the following qualifying classes:
Economy - Y, H, K, B, V, Q, T, L, S, N, U, W, X, O, I, F, M
Discounted First/Business - R
Domestic Business/First - A, D
International Business/First - J, D,Z
Latin America Business/First - C,D,Z

15.2 Continental Airlines:
Continental Airlines: Code share services operated by Continental Airlines with tickets bearing a 'VS' flight prefix will earn miles. Tickets with 'CO' prefix will not qualify for miles.

Actually Nick - with the redevelopment of T3 at Heathrow they have done away with the security checker (or at least for UC, where the security questions are now asked at the desk).

But for Ockey - you should always have your Ag card with you in case it's asked for.

The Security Checkers are still around, but they do not appear to be queue monitoring during my recent trip. I regularly used my Silver/Gold status to check in my immediately family and any guests that are travelling with me.

I think if you tried it with a Rugby squad you might have an issue.

Congrats on getting to Silver on pleasure flying !
