Online Check-In Problem

A few weeks back i mentioned that for some unknown reason every time i fly Virgin i can never ever check in online.
Well, due to fly tomorrow and decided to check in online. What a shock to see this message for a change:
Unfortunately, we are unable to check you in online at the moment. Please check in at the airport as usual
It really bugs me that every time i fly VS i have to get some snidey seat and queue for months at check in.

stu, have you spoken with Virgin about this issue? If not, please give them a quick ring and let us know the response.
Also, I'm going to edit the title of this thread to make it easier for our members to search. Thanks.

Ok,It could be one of three reasons.
1. No 3 seats are together on the flight (Although im traveling with 2 small children on pre reserved seats)
2. Special assistance is required (which it is not)
3. My name is the same as someone who is wanted by the US Govt.
About 3 years ago when i first flew to SFO with VS i was told my name was on a hit list and i was assured my name would be removed.

Stu,
Same here - can't check in and I don't think I am any of the 3 items listed (especially hope not the last one [;)])
It's only 250 miles, I suppose
David
(your not flying from man are you?)

I sure am mate you?
If you are, im not sure if it will have a knock on effect but the inbound Orlando flight tonight is already almost 2 hrs late. Its not even left yet! So if its to be turned around for us tomorrow then delays may be possible?

When I tried to do online check-in in November I could have checked in but they wouldn't check in my husband!! Thought he must have a security problem or something, but nothing when we checked in normally. Couldn't check-in the trip before either.[:?]
No rhyme nor reason!

I have just tried again and the same has just happened as you experienced.
It would let me check in, but not my children.
Its very strange especially given VS shout about OLCI from the rooftops.

Have any of you contacted VS about these problems? Ringing FC probably isn't going to get anywhere as they are very unlikely to know and tbh probably won't care, but maybe a letter to the office or SRB asking why would be a good start. They will be able to look into specifics and either there is a reason why 'you'/your booking can't use OLCI and it would help if you knew that for future, or its a fault with the system and VS need to know so they can look at it and try and resolve it.

No consolation I know stu, but me and the present Mrs Treelo experienced the same problem the last twice we have flown VS. Incidentally, those were ex-MAN too. [:?] Worked perfectly well prior to then. [?]

Well it eventually worked around 1.30, so a few miles for me. Now just have to put up with a delay.

I was unable to check in a second person despite them being on the same PNR. Had to check myself in then do the process from scratch for the second person- worked fine then. I think there is a bug in the system.

Same happened to me at MCO - could check my wife in but not me.
I eventually found out that someone with the same name was on the flight.
Now my full name is not exactly common - but it may be that similar names cause some sort of computer flag to be raised.
It is a bit annoying that after multiple failed attempts - wasting much time! - you don't get the miles bonus - and not your partner either as it is unlikely you would check in only part of the group.
I can see a number of people getting somewhat pi**ed off.
