Upgrading a reward ticket?

Have looked through many threads to see if this query has been touched on, but couldn't find anything!
If, at the time of booking, only a T class economy reward ticket is available - once booked, can this reward ticket be upgraded at the airport / lounge if availabliity frees up for a U (PE Reward) or even a G (UC Reward). I would like to do this both ways if possible!
Of course all additional taxes would need to be paid by Credit card or cash!!
