When I lived in NYC we used Carmel: 212-666-6666
http://www.carmellimo.com/

We always just did the regular car, the cheapest one. They use Lincoln Town Cars, which is pretty common amongst NYC car services. Usually the car was nice/relatively new, but occasionally it was a bit older or slightly more beat-up. We never cared b/c it was relatively cheap, but everyone has their own opinions on what is important to them, so I figured I would give you the heads up.

Also - what we did for airport p/u's was to reserve ahead, and then they would have us call when we had collected our bags/gone through customs (if it was an int'l flight), etc. Then they would tell us where to stand and the car would arrive generally in about 5-10 minutes. I believe you can also have them waiting for you in ther terminal with a sign, but then you will be charged waiting time, which can really add up if it takes a long time for your bags to come out or for you to get through immigration.

Another popular one that probably operates in a similar fashion is 212-777-7777. I can't remember the name of the company, just that it was all 7's.

Hope this helps!

I would just email your hotel's concierge and ask them to book one on your behalf. Usually the hotels have a discounted rate with a certain firm which will be cheaper then you booking direct. Personally however I would use a cab from the airport to Manhattan and then a car back to the airport.

The Casablanca phoned me to offer me their 'discounted' car service @ $105 from EWR, how hard did I laugh before declining their offer? [:p]

I booked lincolnlimo for $65 all in and that was a meet & greet too.

I ended up using the helicopter service when I had to be back at JFK on the Friday afternoon, that was well worth it [y] http://www.flyush.com I was travelling solo and it came in at about £63.00 which with me avoiding the Friday afternoon rush I was delighted with, got some nice views of Manhattan too :)

The helicopter is the best and coolest way! They offer deals of about $99 each way at the moment.

Also a big spread in Airliners Magazine at the moment (maybe another mag about airlines, read it at the bookstore)

I've used Boston Coach from JFK and LGA a couple of times and have always been very impressed with their service. The first time I offered the guy a tip (even though it is included in the price it is the American way after all!) and he refused saying citing company policy!

They're a pretty widespread outfit but do a lot of NYC work.
