Im a Virgin Atlantic Virgin whom usually goes for 'cheap and cheerful (not so much of the cheerful) last minute deals', as apposed to 'luxury breaks'.
The reason for this is my 'miniscule' income provided by my ever so generous employers (the goverment) and also a lack of interest in 'posh holidays' from my family, friends and other half..Oh and my absolute refusal to owe Mr.Bank any money!!!

I wonder if any of you guys/gals would happen to know of any offers that may help me out?

I have ten days booked off in March, not a huge amount of money, no-body to tag along with and a passport just bursting to be used...Where would you go??
..Assuming that is too short notice where would you go in May with partner?

Thankyou for not falling asleep at your lap-tops! any ideas would be most welcoming.

Thanks a lot,
Helen.
(Oh and please ignore my terrible grammar)

Well, bearing in mind Virgin Atlantic is long-haul only, then it's not going to be the cheapest deal out of the block. That said, Virgin Holidays have 5 days left on their Grab A Holiday promotion which means you could go to Barbados from as little as £429.

The other option is City Break type things, which you can organise on your own, and regular sale fares from VS mean you can get to somewhere like New York for about £239. Search something like Kayak.co.uk and you'll be able to find cheap accommodation in the destinations Virgin fly to.

The cheapest fares are on the routes which Virgin has a lot of competition on - so New York, etc, are good places to start looking.

go to dubai you'll love it and there is alot of competition between hotels, we fly direct from LHR and the flight is only 6 hours with us an hour less then on a twin engined plane! its cheap for shopping eating, and has all year round sun with about an hours worth of rain a year (normally around jan) so go for it!!!!

Dubai is great[y]
If you can find a good deal then stay at the Hilton Dubai Creek. [y]This is a more business orientated hotel than family orientated.

There are complimentary transfers to the sister Hilton hotel on the beach. Just make sure you book your seats the day before to be on the safe side. You just give the driver a few dirhams tip.
We LURVED staying there & got a rate that included full yummy breakfasts & free transfer from the airport. Having said that, if you have to get a taxi, there are plenty outside the terminal & it's less than 15 mins to transfer (traffic willing).
There is a rooftop pool with amazing views [8D] & the gold souk is nearby.
Have fun booking any holiday.[:D]

Hmm EK scheduled flight time on a two engined 777 6 hrs 45 mins VS scheduled flight time on a four engined 346 6 hrs 50 mins. John, you do like to paint a rosy picture of all things Virgin.

As to the OP, I'd go to Barbados for £429 any day over the hell that is Dubai! Go for it [:p]

Barbados is fab too,[:D]
We stayed at the Blue Orchids at Worthing last June. It was very clean, laid back & beside the beach. It's well rated on Tripadvisor.
It was a smallish hotel with 2 pools as the beach in front of the hotel is good for paddling but has dangerous currents. However, it's only a 5 min stroll to safe beaches.
We got a fantastic deal going direct to the hotel that included breakfast, transfers from & to the airpot (10mins drive away) & a 4 hour tour going where ever you wanted to go (Flower Caves at the far north of the island & go or come back via Bathsheba).[y]
At the end of the day it's up to you.
Let us know what you decide.

That's as may be, the point was 'scheduled time' and the difference between a two engined and a four engined plane. I've done Dubai in less than six hours on a 777, so there [:p].

Actually, Dubai does seem to be a love it or loathe it destination. Strange.

Has anbody stayed at the 'Hilton Ras Al Khaimah'?
I can get three nights, breakfast only, fly economy for £560 which i think is quite good?
I will look at booking everything seperately next and see what i can get that way.
I dont mind if the flight is 6 or 7hrs to be honest, I have flown to ORL so many times with cheap airlines that i think even economy would be a welcome break!...It dosent take much to please some people!LOL.
Thanks all for your helpful advice again.

I stayed in the Hilton Dubai Creek which I enjoyed so much we are going back there again. For the Hilton Ras Al Khaimah you might find these trip advisor reviews helpful
