Instant SPG Gold Status with Flying Club

PostPosted: 18 Feb 2008, 17:57

Chris (red FC member) and Sue (FC silver) have both had emails today from Virgin Flying Club offering instant Starwood Gold status and bonus Flying Club points for Starwood stays.

1,000 bonus miles on your first stay
3,000 bonus miles on your third stay
5,000 bonus miles on your fifth stay

Is it targeted at reds and silvers only?

Nick

Links appear to be personalised to the recipient; I was going to post one in the Clubhouse, but if the personal info is removed from the link, it doesn't work.

Nothing on either my email or Luke's, wonder how they are selecting who to send the offer through to?

I got the link but it has not registered that I am already a member and has created a new account, not sure how to get the 2 merged now!

Nick, have they previously stayed at a Starwood group hotel, I was just wondering if they were targeting Red ans Silvers with previous reservations.

If you log into your account on spg.com, there is an option on to 'merge accounts'

I have never done it, but assume it just leave you with your gold account plus the points from your old account.

We stay at Starwoods fairly often, as I am already SPG Gold. Chris is only 18, and every time he and Sue have stayed, the room has been booked in my name.

Looks like they are targetting FC members by profile, not linked to previous reservations as my wife got the mail today. I used the link to get her SPG which was fine, but I was not able to get it for me using my FC account number (Au) - so i'll be remaining blue[:(]

Had the e-mail here, and that's certainly not linked to any previous reservations with them.

I got one too, not sure how its profiled because I havent earned any miles in ages. Reminds me of the Hilton Gold VIP cards they sent out a few years back, is SPG gold any good or is it similar to Hilton silver?

SPG gold is much much better than HHonor Silver, as I've had several room upgrades/other perks in the last 12 months using my SPG gold card.

HHonor silver really is a waste of a plastic card IMHO.
