Hi,
From 1st September VS joins the list of airlines that participate in the new HH earning style
(1) Points and variables miles ( HH points and $1 per point spent)
(2) Points and fixed miles ( 1000 miles for Virgin at most hotels)
(3) 50% bonus points
Now, the default is now the Points and Variable miles (1) & not the standard HH +1000 miles.
As VS is one of the most generous schemes we would have to stay several nights ( or spend over $1000) to get a benefit from (1) unlike most other airlines which only offer 500 miles.
Just a word of advice to check your profile on Hilton HHonors to maximise VS miles.
Regards

Thanks for that, HH is the only hotel programme who credit miles to my FC account without strife, still not got my 1k from MO at easter and I am fed up with ringing FC[:(!]

Thanks for this. I checked out of the Dublin Hilton two hours ago! Have changed my profile, so fingers crossed!
I have another problem with HH at present. We stayed in a Hilton on our recent US trip and when I booked, I remembered to change my FC number as I had gone to Silver from Gold since my last Hilton booking. However, the miles have not appeared and I see that my Gold number is on the hotel receipt (I didn't notice at the time). My HH profile showed both FC numbers but the old (Gold) number was ticked as preferred.
I should say that I haven't contacted anyone yet to have the miles credited, and I hope it can be easily put right, but I thought it worth mentioning to warn anyone else who is "demoted".

Just found out today thanks to this post that my old silver number was still in the HH system but the miles have still ended up in my AUFC account for stays in the last year.

I think I'm right in saying that FC account numbers remain linked to your account, even if you 'change colour' and get a new official number. So miles should make it to your account as long as you're using a number which belonged to you at one time or another.

Firstly, TBS thank you for making us aware of this! Secondly, what is regarded as the best option for FC miles (bearing in mind the conversion rate of HH honors to FC miles)...? I'm not sure if 10 honors + 5 bonus will add up quicker than 500 miles per stay.

Hi JAT74L,
Sorry. I have just seen your post.
Although the HH thread says 500miles for the fixed miles scheme, VS actually earns 1000 miles per stay ( 200 per stay at Hampton Inns).
Given that you need 10k HH points for 1500 VS miles , I would say go with the HH points and fixed mile scheme and earn VS miles.
