Me and my family (6 adults & 4 kids) are booked to fly to JFK on the 1st April. Having booked in before christmas, we used the online service to select seats together rather then spread out across the plane. Having recently checked, it appears we've now been shifted about and that some of the kids have been allocated seats away from the adults. Is there anything that we can do about this or does anyone know the best department to contact? Any help would be appreciated.

Call Virgin Flying Club and ask them if they can reallocate you (assuming you cannot do it yourself online?).

As frustrating as it may be, i would try not to not worry too much. There will be a number of seats unallocated until check-in, and VS seem to place priority on ensuring families are seated together.

Thanks,
Sarah

There is also a CAA regulation that requires carriers make every attempt to seat families together, even if that means moving other passengers to facilitate it.

More info here: http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/us/fa ... dseats.jsp

Quote:
CAA regulations mandate that carriers make every effort possible to seat families together. If you are travelling with a child, we can only allow you to choose seats which are grouped together.

Best thing to do is call VS or email customer services and tell them that you are a family - they'll then record it in the system. It is interesting how on numerous time this same story is told - I wonder why VS randomly reallocate seats like this.

Thanks for the replies. We got in touch with customer services and they stated 'I understand that the current seats allocated to you aren't together, however, at this particular moment the aircraft seat pre-allocation has been utilised to capacity for your flight. In light of this, we may only be able to change your allocation on the day of departure at check in.' The reply was prompt and fair enough but its still a bit annoying after selecting our seats months ago. Will hopefully be sorted at the airport.
