Morning all,
Having just returned from a very enjoyable few days in LA and Vegas, i thought I would highlight an issue I have been trying to resolve with Dollar Car Rental.
Despite both VS and Dollar's website promoting the FC link, and having booked a car for this trip (and the last) through the VS website, neither the LAS or LAX Dollar offices would accept by FC card for miles credit. The 'Virgin Holidays Kiosk' bonuses appeared in my account seamlessly but the 1000 miles per hire have not.
I'm following this up with Dollar now, who (much to my frustration) no longer have a Customer Service call centre and conduct business via e-mail...funny how they're happy for a call centre to take my money in the first place....

I'll keep you posted.

Cheers

Tony, you are not alone. I hired a Dollar car at SFO through the Virgin Web Site back in November. I presented my FC card at the airport but was told that they did not accept them. Following several E-mails to Dollar/Virgin I still have not received my 1000 miles.
Getting a bit P'd off with them to be honest[n]

Follow the link from the VS website for dollar claims, worked for me.

I may be misreading what your reference to Virgin Holidays, but did you book the car through them? If you did, my recollection is that it's ineligible.

I booked the car though the VS website but it comes up on my credit card as Virgin Holidays / Kiosk (referenced as Kiosk on my FC statement). If Dollar can't sort this out I'm going back to Avis!

An update - I e-mailed the Dollar 'customer support' team (I use the term loosely as they have discontinued telephone customer support) over two weeks ago and have heard nothing since. I have now resorted to e-mailing the nice lady in the US office who so kindly responded to an earlier query.....this is bonkers!
More to come....

The reason why you are seeing 'Virgin Holidays' on your statement is beacuse the booking engine on the VS web site for hotels/car hire is run by V Hols and is linked to their reservation system.

It does clearly state though on the VS website that if you book using the VS web site you will earn extra miles:

If you make your Dollar car hire booking via http://www.virginatlantictravelplus.com you can earn even more miles; you'll earn 1,000 miles from Dollar plus an extra 2 Flying Club miles for every £1 spent through our Virgin Atlantic Travel Plus website

You access http://www.virginatlantictravelplus.com when you click on the 'Book Car Hire' link on the VS web site.

The 'Claim missing Miles' link for Dollar car hire also looks to be wrong as it just takes you to the Dollar site map page.

Thanks James.

Well, the good news is that this morning the 2 x 1000 miles appeared in my FC account, along with a nice e-mail from one of the Customer Services team (I susupect based in the US given the lexicon used in the e-mail - no spelling giveaways though!). Still no answer as to why the US offies don't accept the VS card though...

Cheers
