Hi- this is my first posting on here although i am a frequent visitor to the site. I am flying on on March 15th from ewr to lhr on vs 18 in economy and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on that flight. I usually take flight 2. Is 18 easier to manage jetlag? Also is anyone else flying that day in UC? I was able to use the lounge 2 years agao when I went with my friend who was flying upper. Also, on my way back I used miles to upgrade to UC on Vs 17. This will be my first UC flight. I was wondering what to expect etc? How do I go about pre-booking a treatment in the CH? I have heard a lot about the club house. How much time would you reccomend? Thank you for all your help![:D]
I've never done a day flight back from NY but would always choose a day flight over a night flight esp in economy. Did JFK-LHR night flight in 2006 on UA, didn't sleep a wink and felt ill the next day! I've heard it's far more natural to arrive in the evening and basically go straight to bed. Enjoy the trip and don't forget a TR!
Always planning a trip somewhere!
There is no comparison from a jetlag standpoint. East to west is much easier to survive if you can do a day flight. I've done one red-eye from CAL to east coast and it was no fun. Never again. A bit harder to do to Europe, but from NY not a problem.
As for the clubhouse at LHR, most folks will tell you 'the longer the better'. You have a difficult time at 7pm. Depending on what you need to do (or want to do) in London that day, a case could be made either way. Not sure how familiar you are with London, but it might be a stretch to suggest that the VS clubhouse is more worthy of your time than a lot of London institutions [;)]
Yet, stretch we will ... have a leisurely lie-in after a hard last night in London, take off for Heathrow around lunchtime, time your arrival no later than 2pm, get to the clubhouse quickly, have a nice late lunch - all three courses of it:

book a treatment mid afternoon:

then grab a couple of drinks of your choice and wait for the six o'clock hour to roll around.
Some might say you should be going to the Tate Modern, or the Tower, or even somewhere like El Vino or an Olde Worlde pub instead, make the most of your time in London. But then you wouldn't be expecting that recommendation here.
