Hi

We are flying LGW-LAS in July, I plan to use online checkin on the way out, but can I checkin online in vegas for our return flight? Is this the same process in that it is open 24hrs prior to departure and you can change your seats if required and then just drop bags at the airport?
Thanks

OLCI is currently available at all VS destinations execpt Grenada and Tobago.

I dont think you can print your own boarding pass though yet at any non-UK destination.

The process is the same allowing you to check-in online from 24 hours up to 2 hours before your flight including being able to change seats (exit row and bulk-head seats are unavailable with OLCI as these have to be assigned at the airport by an agent)

Mitchja thanks for replying

I presume that you just get in a different queue to drop your bag off and they will give you boarding passes then if you can't print them off

Indeed. You dont really need to use the bag-drop queue either. You can also use the standard line based on the class you are travelling in. Bag drop lines do tend to be longer at some airports. All agents can see if you have checked in online as soon as they open your booking when you get to the desks.

Even if you print your on boarding pass, the agents can and will give you a proper boarding card if you ask them. Being a VS nerd here, I like to keep all my boarding card stubs rather than just having a tatty piece of A4 paper [:w]

I've never used ONCI with virgin so on the way out at gatwick do I get in the normal queueing system or a separate one for bag drop or just the shortest one. Our flight is 10.45am (we've done it once before but this was sept 06 just after the 'liquid' security scare so airport was horrendous)so i'm thinking of getting to checkin for 7am will that get me through to security quite quick? its a wednesday flight

Any help greatly appreciated

As James said, you can use either the bag drop queue or the queue for you class of travel (Econ/PE/UC) whichever looks the quickest. I have found that usually the bag drop queue is shorter but it does vary day to day etc.

IIRC Vegas has no bag drop line.

It is hard enough for them to get Gold/Upper and PE/Silver dedicated lanes open.

I tend to go there early and dump my bags as check in opens (10am), often there are few staff on hand to deal with the opening of the check in process.

FWIW they are very lax about upgrading non upgradeable tickets (K class), they have also only charged me 1 in 6 for a date change.

The outdoor carpark opposite check in, if free for the first 15 mins, so you have ample time to dump your bags and get away for a while without it costing $1 :)

VS do have a bag drop for Mccarran, just went there only a few weeks ago.

When I got there it was very short, I just had to wait 30 secs till served. I checked in online, but did not have a boarding pass printed out - they printed one out with 0 fuss. They were selling the exit row seats around $110 a pop if I remember rightly.

Or you can play your luck like I did and get it free once you're through to departures :)

... have been meaning to write a TR for a while now. Includes the dreaded VS flight from LGW in the middle of the snow and a total travel time of 26 hours where I still didn't get any airmiles as compensation :(
