10% off accom only bookings?

In the days of old, you could get 10% off accom only bookings with VH. Is this still the case? The Virgin Mastercard terms say it's a no, but how about the FC or Frequent Virgin discount? Is there any way for me to get the hotel cheaper? [?]

FYI, I was looking at booking The James in Chicago. Anyone been? may settle for an apartment rental though, it is a bit cheaper. [:?]

You used to be able to get 10% for accom only with your FC discount but that has changed now too, which is a shame as you could get some good bargains through VH.

Not sure on the FVC but AFAIK its a no on that score too.

FVC said if you have spent over £1500 with them previously and it's for more then 3 nights, they will give you 10% off. Seems I don't qualify though. [:(!]

FVC told me it needed to be more than £1500 for the accomodation (regardless of previous spend levels) and 3 nights min to get the 10% discount.
Am I the only person who thinks the all new singing and dancing FVC is a load of rubbish? I had expected a bit more when the 'new' scheme was unveiled but have been sorely disappointed.

I am a 'lapsed' FV from the old scheme and have not booked anything with VH for the past couple of years. However, they recently wrote to me, thanked me for being such a 'valued customer' and enclosed FV cards for me and the present Mrs Treelo. Go figure[:D]

I agree DragonLady. They got rid of all the good features and it's not worth using nowadays. There used to be some real bargains on there in terms of accom only, but now they aren't much cheaper than anyone else, if at all.

Saying that, I've just found the same hotel over £300 cheaper on Midas Hotels. Am I right to be suspicious of a hotel that's too cheap?[:?]

I stuck with the 10% discount when the new scheme was launched. Interestingly I looked at the travel benefits associated with my bank account, and find that I can get 10% off VH plus no cc cost plus lounge access (Servisair) if I book through them. (Mind you, I pay for that account)

The new scheme is a bit pants. I got quite excited about the CDC idea, but the 50 mile limit makes it unusable for me.

The reports on the hotel on tripadvisor are consistently good about the hotel (looks nice too). I've used Midashotels before with no problems whatsoever. If the price is good get it booked pronto!!! (before the price gets ammended[}:)])
