'"Dear Andrew McNaughton

Due to delays in the modification of our new planes
Last edited by mcnaugha on 24 Jun 2015, 22:09, edited 1 time in total. Reason: the plugs at every seat for electronic gear will not be operational for the flight. Why are we sending you this message? We want you to be prepared to have your laptop or iPod fully charged

We had the 'dark' plane on the way back to SFO. It wasnt an issue for me as I'd already experienced the IFE on the outbound and plus it was a short flight from LAS but i can appreciate the disappointment if its your first VX flight. Try and grab row 3 (the extra legroom one) if you can as that may be more of a godsend than the IFE.

Thanks,
Sarah

I wanted to try the whole top-of-the-range experience, and because I'm a flying scaredy cat and feel safer somehow in the front row, I went for first class. So looks like I'll just need to enjoy the front row, slightly better seat, but probably no massage and no touch screen system. [:(]

I'll go for the 3rd row the next time I'm flying in the main cabin if it shows up as available. Thanks Sarah.

I've pre-booked row 3 for my upcoming VX flights. At only $15 extra it still came out cheaper than the other carriers and also the fare VX had quoted in a dummy booking done the previous day. [:D]

Your not missing anything with the massage chair either. A very disappointing experience[n]

Compared to the one you tried at The Sharper Image in Las Vegas, I'm not surprised [:p]

Here's a wee trip report...

Actually didn't mind the Red system not being available. Found out the reason. It was a brand new aircraft and they had to get it into service before they had the time to fit the cabin electronics. So no power to the seats either which made for some great laughs when I and another passenger found the manual control; it drops the seat back instantly making for quite a fright.

Actually this was a very cool experience. I didn't even realise it was the Captain welcoming us all onboard until he announced who he was. I thought he was a 40-something flight attendant. [:o)] Loved the friendly attitude. Very similar to Virgin Blue in Oz.

Little food box was lovely. More later... gotta run.

We had a go-around at LAS. I knew something was wrong as we were coming in WAY too fast. The Captain came out on landing to give us a full explanation which again was very comforting for anxious flyers. It was high tail winds of double the maximum safety limit. A reverse approach still brought us in fast but landed safely.

It's been three years since I was in LAS. It's stunningly clean and modern... which is not what I remember. Have they refurbed a lot in recent years??? Hate the tram thing. Timing was awful. A 744 must have just uploaded. Had to miss first tram.
