Hi all

Does anyone know, I've just booker a flight from Birmingham to Glasgow on BMI. As this is one of Virgins partners, is it possible to earns miles on this trip. On the Virgin website it states that you can earn 1,200 miles on UK domestic direct only. Not to sure what that means, but lower down in the T&C's it stats 'Please note: bmi tiny fares do not earn any Flying Club miles'

Really confused [:?], does anyone know if Im entitled to claim the miles? During the booking process there was now where to enter my Virgin flying club, nor did it ask for it during the booking process.

Cheers [y]

Trev,

Think about there being two airlines, even if they both have the same 'parent'

BMI is a full service airline, with fares to match. This is the one which is a Virgin partner. Make a dummy booking & you'll find a place to enter flying club details.

Then there is bmibaby, which is a low cost airline, and doesn't enable one to earn miles. This is what you've booked.

At least I've never been able to, when I've done that same Birmingham - Glasgow flight.

Regards,

Ron

Hi Trev

Flown BMIBaby a number of times and I'm afraid you don't get VA miles or BMI miles for the flight unless you book a full price open economy fare ticket (tiny fares are not included in this)

If you havent got a fare class code as per the ones highlighted on VA's Flying Club website then I'm afraid there's no miles for you for the flight... unless of course you booked with the VA Amex Card, and then you'll get some miles based on how much you paid for the ticket.

All the best,

Baloo

bmi tiny fares used to be the very cheapest bmi mainline economy fares, usually a few pounds cheaper than cheap economy. I think they've just been through a renaming exercise so it may no longer be called tiny. IIRC the difference between tiny and cheap economy was that you couldn't check in online and reserve a seat. Note that the other cheap Y fares on bmi mainline only earn 25-50% of the 1200.
