Hi everyone,

new to the forum and wanted to see how helpful you all are ?

I am looking at booking a flight from manchester to orlando on the 3rd nov returning 13th nov 2008

I am quite a big guy and wanted to know what the width of the seats are on the economy and the premium economy seats on these aircraft ?
From what i have read so far the only planes with the 'new' premium economy seats are based out of london heathrow....

I *think* the aircraft numbers are VS073 to 76 that operate this route.

Can anyone tell me what the width of the 2 different types of seat are ? im not fussed about the legroom measurement, its more the width of the seat im after...

Will probably book for the premium seats but if the only difference is legroom then i may as well fly std economy.

Many thanks to anyone that can help me,

Pete

On the dates you mention, flying from MAN to MCO you'll be on a LGW/MAN configuration 747-400.

In Economy, I believe the seat width is about 18 inches (with a pitch of 31 inches). In Premium Economy, it is 21 inches wide (with a pitch of 38 inches). You are correct that so far only the Heathrow based aircraft have the new purple leather PE seats - the LGW/MAN aircraft re-fits start next year.

If you want as wide as possible an Economy seat, avoid the bulkhead / exit rows, as these seats are narrower, as the tray table has to stow in the seat armrest.

Hope this helps.

on the main website it says the new PE purple seats are 21' wide, however im unsure that the old PE seats are any wider than the economy as the site says the seat pitch is longer (but nothing about extra width)

I would guess they are a bit wider than Y as the configuration in the bubble is 2+2 whereas Y configurations (not on VS) in the bubble are 3+3. Either that or it's an extremely wide aisle!

The old PE are definitely wider than the Economy seats on the LGW/MAN fleet. I don't know the exact dimensions but having sat in both PE are certainly wider!
