Using Flying Club Miles on other carriers

Not sure if this should be in the flying club section or not but thought would put it in here- feel free to move.
Just got off the phone to yet another rude VS staff member. I am planning a trip to CHristchurch NZ in December and had found some cheap fares with QF to melbourne. First problem encoutered was when she believed me to be breaking the data protection act---perhaps i should feel complimented that she thought i was older! Of course she asked all those silly questions like, whats ur dob and ur address, questions that any1 could answer if they new me! So after her telling me that she thought i was lieing and that i was older than i said we moved onto the real reason for ringing (already annoyed here).I thought that I could use my miles on the route MEL-CHC-MEL as is shown on the VS website. Alas no i can't- does anyone know if this is correct? Why dont VS state on the website under the Air NZ section that some flights arent available? I jsut found it rather annoying that they enter a statement like 'Australia-NZ reward flights 20,000 miles etc' then dont state that in fact its only available on 4 of the 12 routes to Oz that NZ operate! What do you all think
Secondly then asked for quote on VS to SYD from LHR. She gave me a price i then asked if she could tell me how many seats left at this price- she said she couldnt tell me how full a/c is or not- rather ironic dont u think when there are web based availablity tools etc showing us!
Has anyone else been experiencing rude VS staffers at flying club call centre lately? You would have thought with the hero awards (that wot they are called) they would be working to get a nomination!
I hate to admit it but having had her question if i was lieing or not im now begining to wonder if she was telling me the truth in that she couldnt book MEL-CHC-MEL using my miles or if she was just trying to get me off the phone.
