Our aircraft has been changed to the A340-600 for our up and coming flight to Miami, and with it our seats moved too.

The problem we have is that my booking for the 4 of us and my mum and dads booking are 2 separate bookings.

We have tried to sit as close as possible and even though us 4 have managed to sit together, my parents are a row behind us. This isn't a problem as we dont intend to chat all the way there but would have been nice to sit next to each other, something we may have to sort out at check-in.

The thing that worries me, is that the customer service rep said that the partition is on one side of the aircraft to row 7 and them switched to the left from row 8. I am baffled. I know the aircraft we flew on the Chicago was smaller but it had just one continuous partition all they way down UC>

ANy advice, greatly appreciated.

On the A340-600 A/C the direction of the middle suits changes at row 7/8 and there's a wardrode in that location too. This is the partition customer service mentioned.

If you are in an 'A' or a 'K' window seat then you will be OK as these seats are the same down the entire length of the cabin. It's only if you sat in the middle 'D' or 'G' row that you will get split up if sat in row 7 or 8.

The middle row changes letter at this partition so forward of this and they are 'D' seats which face the 'A' seats. Behind this they are 'G' seats which face the 'K' seats

Take a look at our seat map here which shows the actualy direction of the seats unlike the VS maps that just show boxes.

I hope that makes sense!!!

Thanks James, much clearer now .

Dragonlady, they had moved us so that we had 3 seats across, so 2 would have been facing each other and another odd one somewhere. Not acceptable really, as we are a family of 4, 2adults, 2 children. I have just changed again to 14, 15, 16, 17 A, mum and dad are 10 and 11A. I just wish that seat 12A was available. So there is 1 person sat between the 6 of us.

Also, when i checked on expert flyer a few weeks ago, the PE cabin was virtually full on the 747. Now its an airbus the PE cabin is much smaller, so what happens to all the people who are booked as PE and now they have not enough seats, do they get bumped to Upper ?.

Could be a combination of upgrades and offers of downgrades or bumps to the next flight if the flight is very full, but dont forget that not everybody on a booked flight will turn up. Airlines routinely overbook because of this, so a flight appearing full on ExpertFlyer might not be as full on the day of travel.

Thanks,
Sarah

If and it's a BIG IF, pax get bumped up, there is a distinct pecking order on how this is done.
