I wouldn't have tought so. See the following link http://www.v-flyer.com/forum/topic.asp? ... Terms=ebay.

To transfer the miles this would need a FC account for them to be sent from and rules are broken when they are sold.

The statements in the auction details are completely incorrect. The seller will NOT be able to transfer miles.

Further to this, the sale of miles by anyone other than VAA is against the T's and C's of Virgin Flying Club, and the seller risks their account being closed with immediate effect.

Buyer beware.

This is what I thought - I have reported this matter to the FC as I cannot report it directly to eBay.

Good spot! [y]

I found someone trying to sell 100,000 FC miles on ebay not that long ago. They were promising the earth and forgot to mention it was illegal and there was no guarantee of getting the flights you wanted.

I reported them to VS FC, gave my details but never heard back from them. I think it was taken off ebay though.

Keep us informed if you hear back from FC.

being sold by an id of desertfox78 - I have just emailed this user to remind them that this is totally against the rules... alledgedly they are 'corporate' somehow I don't believe this.....

I was tempted to do this but looking at his feedback, which indicates he is an unreliable seller, I didn't think it would have any effect. We will have to wait and see if it does.

PS Have just reported it to Ebay - there is a way! Cannot believe someone can be so greedy.. and they are asking for £600 and rising...

My sentiments exactly. How do you report such auctions to eBay as I had a look and couldn't find it.

hi moid - took some searching and finally found a contact us button... [i] from there you can report fraudulent use, which I have done so. [^] Hopefully this will take it off so no unsuspecting buyer finds their now £600 lighter for the priv.

If any V-flyer might happen to know this person, they live in the Basingstoke area according to Ebay perhaps they would be so kind to remind them that they are being rather deceptive.....[V][:(!]

Funnily enough have just had a reply from the 'seller'

And I quote...

'Hello this is a prize I won and on checking the regulations I have to quote the membership number of the Virgin Flying Club account I want the miles added to. It is up to me to choose this they say, so there is nothing illegal about this in the slightest. Thank you for your interest and concern. Happy bidding.'

I wont be bidding....

Me neither - something is still not sitting right with this.

Are Flying Club points ever offered as 'prizes' does anyone know?

Now it could be a Red Select voucher....

I am probably now going to look stupid - what is a Red Select Voucher?

If it this, then it's not an unwanted prize per se.

MMMM that pretty much spell's it out, I wouldn't call it a prize, but I can just about see where he/she is coming from.

But with the seller's feedback score? Probably about as risky as buying a cordless phone from Del boy.

Agreed - I have sent him an e-mail asking if it is a Red Select Voucher - let's see if he knows what one of these is!!

Guys

This is an interesting thread and anyone scanning through might think that this seller was about to commit another great train robbery [:)]

Maybe just a reality check ? ... selling (or trying to) miles on ebay is not illegal, as has been described (it may breach T's & C's but not the law) .... and may not be 'Deceptive' or 'Fraudulent'

If Richards assesment of it being a Red Select Voucher is correct then its likley to be someone trying to make a few quid out of a voucher they cant use !

My take on this is that if VS are that bothered about what is sold on Ebay then they should monitor it (which they may well do, along with other carriers) by all means report it to them, but does it really need V-Flyer members playing Sherlock Holmes [?]

As with anything Ebay - Buyer beware !

Just my 2c worth

26 satisfied customers out of 28 in last year - not tip top but not exactly Ronnie Biggs either - he's an infrequent trader so he may just have had some bad luck on a couple of items. He's in Basingstoke so I guess a personal transaction would be in order.

Actually I think the starting price is more of a put-off for me although I guess £350 for 50k miles is not too bad if you're thinking UC.

Not a good price really - especially his buy it now. You can book flights for less than that (by the time you've added in the taxes you'll still need to pay...)
