Is it possible to use VS FC miles when booking with GE?

GE = General Electric, Google Earth, something else??? Presumably the answer s Great Escapade? If so is this some type of ticket????

I would venture that you can use the miles the same way as you do now (I know you can use them on SQ but not sure about NZ) as The Great Escapade is simply a snappy brand name for a round the world ticket. It's probably been pushed by Virgin to counter the Star and Oneworld Alliance marketing, as a viable alternative.

We are looking at options for travelling to New Zealand next year, GE being one of them. Between us we have 250k FC miles to spend and would be looking to do the trip business class.

I was thinking along the lines of using the miles for 2 UC tickets, say on the LHR-HKG, SFO-LHR sectors (depending on availability)or as you suggest, booking in PE and upgrading with miles.

Are any of thse options possible when booking a GE fare? Apologies if I'm being a bit dumb!

Unfortunately not as they are in the wrong class - there isn't a GE fare for PE (though there are supplements to upgrade the Economy VS sectors to PE).

Does anyone know if you get tier points / miles for Great Escapade tickets? £4900 for a business class RTW ticket sounds like something to save for.. If I could earn tier points on those UC flights too, then that would be amazing!

You may also want to check pricing with some specialist round the world travel agents. I have just booked a round the world trip flying a combination of Virgin Atlantic and Air New Zealand and it cost £3910 + taxes of £345 for Upper/Business Class.

of course, VA are also running their UC sale. From £3,297 return to Sydney - travel between Dec 1 2008 and Jan 31 2009. I'd go if the OH would leave the dog for more than a week

Any good pointers for ticket agents, My folks are planning NZ (flight only) for March, GE one option, Trailfinders, Dial-a-flight any others with good history for hunting down the best costs together with decent Customer service.. (Often hard to find combination of these two attributes..)

Try H.I.S., they are a huge Japanese travel company who have been dealing with Japanese in the UK for about 20 years. They are now breaking into the non-Japanese market here. Very good for VS combinations with other carriers and fares via Asia.

They also have an office just down from Piccadilly Circus so you can actually go in and talk to someone in the flesh! No call centres in far off lands so you can meet your agent. Very Japanese level of service so you should be well looked after.

ETA just had a look and it looks as if they have Aukland flights for £797.
