PE to Orlando...seat allocations

This year , we flew economy (never again) and asked for certain seats as soon as they were released. We checked in using the Twilight service so could not be any earlier! We were then given seats at the back of the aircraft and we were split up and put amongst a large party which were clearly worse for wear. It was horrendous! We did get the seats we asked for on the way home , but i feel only because I emailed so many virgin people (rep, everyone else!!). i thought that was a bit naff for frequent virgins and flying club members to be treated like that.
This time we are booked LGW-MCO VS027 April 27th 2009 for 23 nights (just in case you can help!)in PE and we have asked for seats upstairs , although only a few show up on the system....what chances have we got of actually getting these? Hopefully good. I know we will never afford upper class , but is PE lovely?
I bet there is no chance of the new leather seats though...any thoughts?
Also if anyone knows how to put the countdown to next trip widget on here...let me know...cant find it anywhere!

The seats I pre-reserved recently for St Lucia were allocated both ways so I'm guessing you were unlucky. There were a spate of reservations being lost with the reconfiguration of the LGW fleet so perhaps you were unlucky.
You can check out my trip reports
here and
here. Also I took some photos of the upper deck
1 2. I think you'll find PE on the Upper Deck lovely. I've already booked my next outing on it!

Never say never, it's a long way off plus sometimes there can be substitutions but, I wouldn't get your hopes up

Actually you could have been earlier if you had used on-line check-in which opens 24 hours before the flight which, if you had lost your pre-requested seats, would have allowed you to make other seat choices
Also if anyone knows how to put the countdown to next trip widget on here...let me know...cant find it anywhere!
It's a member-only function and details can be found
here

Were you in the Hilton 24 hours before the flight? I have successfully checked in 3 people on different etickets and certainly think OLCI is worth a try.

Yes I was..had two nights there because of a business meeting just before our trip. I think , however you check in...if you are flying club and frequent virgin members , and have provisionally allocated seats really early , you should get the seats you have tried to get or whats the point in any of it? Then to be split up aswell...it wasn't on. Surely people who check in on the day with no previous seat request are the ones who get moved around normally?

I have every sympathy for your experience. However, from previous threads about this subject and unfortunately, they're still only requests and not confirmations.
ISTBC but there have been Posters who have commented that they have been moved from their requested seats in PE.
You have been very unlucky.

We have just returned from our first PE trip and I can confirm it was a massive improvement from economy. We flew LHR-SFO outbound so had the new seats and v-port, It was the best flight I have ever experienced. Return was LAS-LGW. Requested and recieved 79 a & c upstairs. great seats and cabin, quiet with good crew but Whilst still being an enjoyable experience there seemed to be slightly less legroom than the LHR PE, Could have been my imagination though.

I will say that no matter the seat (upstairs or downstairs) you will enjoy the PE Seat and perhaps the most important benefit - getting off the plane first[:D]
I presume you have been through Immigration at MCO and being at the back of the aircraft can add an hour to your travel.
Two more benefits are having Fastrack access at Gatwick and a separate carousel for your luggage when you have got through Immigration at Orlando
Enjoy your flight

If you do strike lucky with the seats in the bubble, remember there's limited overhead locker space..

If it doesn't fit overhead or in the bin under the window there's a stowage locker for anything else. The crew will happily stow it for you there.
