V-Flyer- any membership benefits?

PostPosted: 02 Oct 2008, 22:34

As a new v-flyer member do you issue a membership pack or some kind of membership card? I read in one of the forums that there used to be v-flyer baggage tags. Are they going to be produced again? As a v-flyer member how do virgin know that you are a member and what preferential treatment if any, are you likely to receive?

Edit to thread title by mod for clarity.. Nick

I'm afraid the only thing you get, other than access to all the fun here, is a warm feeling inside. Yes, there were luggage tags a few years ago but the cost of production became unsustainable.

Sadly, V-Flyer doesn't mean any preferential treatment of any kind. In fact, many staff both ground and cabin have never heard of us. So no V-Flyer handshakes to upgrades I'm sorry to say.

Welcome to V-Flyer.

I will let Pete answer the bit about the membership card and pack, etc as it is something we have discussed again recently.

With regards to whether you get preferential treatment, the simple answer has to be, probably not! We are an independent site and value our independence.

there are a number of staff members who contribute to the sight, and their inside knowledge is greatly appreciated. There are even more members of the VS empire, some quite senior, who read the site. We do know that views expressed by people on the site have been taken on board by VS, and we have been instrumental on influencing some changes. We also know that we have failed to have other changes made, (better food), but we keep trying. [;)]

The purpose of the site is to give advice, share experiences, offer tips and try and help people get the best out of their flying with Virgin Atlantic. We also have a strong social side, and try to meet up on a fairly frequent basis. See here for out latest Parisian Odyssey . (I am not sure if this thread is visible to all of our readers. [;)] )

Welcome kevincroft.
The v-flyer baggage tags are no more (and much missed). As far as I am aware ther are no current plans to reproduce them.v-flyer is an independent site /forum ,thus no preferential treatment from VS.

Welcome to the site...

In case you don't know already..the luggage tags are no more...just wanted to make sure you knew that [}:)]

What this site does however offer is....

Lot's of information on a variety of things.

For me when I first joined it was to find the quickest and easiest ways to upgrade/get reward flights.

There is off course lots more information than that on here, try using the search, if it doesn't turn up anything feel free to ask, there is always someone around that can point you in the right direction...or somewhere close.

Again welcome, and nope..still no luggage tags [:w]

Then they got stolen from my bags, at Heathrow no leass [:0]

Now I travel without style [:#]

You get to ask me private questions in The Clubhouse section, and as everyone will tell you, my advice is worth the price of membership all by itself.

Welcome.

Great post GJ! Thanks for tripping!

Welcome, kevincroft, welcome. When I first joined up with this VF lark it was to look at seat ratings, find out about IFE, check out what the food might be like etc. You then realise that you're developing an understanding of fare codes, miles earning/spending opportunities, upgrades etc., and the whole flying thing suddenly becomes something that you're much more well informed about than you ever envisaged. It's now pretty hard for me to imagine booking a flight without having the know-how gleened from years as a member of this site.

Oh, and I guess there's the added 'benefit' that some of the other folk on here are OK. Sometimes. I suppose...

Hey! I liked 'gleamed'! It sounds so cheerful in these uncertain times.

Thank you for correcting the typo, sir; there'll be an apple on your desk forthwith as a sign of my appreciation...

You can get great pleasure by saying 'AMENITY KITS' in any thread where GrinningJackanapes might be and sit back and watch the reaction,
a good reason to join in itself.

Its also worth joining for the info you get and the plain and professional yet not condescending replies to questions asked.

If anything is going to happen with VA changes etc your more likely to see it posted here first than on the VA website itself.

'Cause they're waiting for me.
They're looking for me.
Ev'ry single night they're driving me insane.
Those kits [:0] inside my brain.

Amenity kits [:0], they live inside of my head.
(Live inside of my head.)
Amenity kits [:0], they come to me in my bed.
(Come to me in my bed.)
Amenity kits [:0], they're coming to arrest me, oh no.

See what you've done, you rotten EGG...

This is where GJ currently resides. When the drugs kick in he'll be out again and free to roam the first class lounges.

Welcome to V-Flyer. For me the greatest benefit has been the opportunity to meet new people, many of whom have become friends. We hope to see you at a future function, perhaps the one Nottingham Nick mentioned above?

Best regards, and thanks for your membership.
