I'll be reaching FC gold with the tier points for my next flight out of LHR. Will I be able to use the CH at LHR that day or do I technically only reach gold after that flight and can use the lounge on the way back? The MIA lounge isn't great, I prefer the airport hotel's restaurant... Is there a chance for some talking the check-in agent into giving me a CH pass on that occasion. Would be only good of I could take my non-status colleague, too.

Call Flying Club and explain the situation to them as they may be able to help you there. In the past they have provided a letter for individuals waiting for their Au card to arrive so that they can start making use of the benefits. If they wont do it for your outbound trip they should be able to arrange something for your return from MIA.

I had the same situation when i first reached Gold, while I could not use the LHR clubhouse, I was able to use the SF one.

They did post a message on my flight booking, so the SF ground team were able to recognise I had reached Gold.

Same experience here. Technically you are not a Au member by the end of your qualifying flight. So they will not let you in the CH 'before' your qualifying flight, even just few hours difference.
