Can anyone cast their mind back to the above flight? About 30 minutes into the flight from Newark when the Captain reported smoke in the cabin and that we had to make an emergency landing at JFK. Spent two days waiting at Newark for a return flight home. We understood we had an engine failure on take off but never actually found out the real cause. Would appreciate if anyone could shed some light.

Looked on the AAIB and NTSB database and there is no record of this flight as an accident / emergency.
