The MAN-UVF route will cease to operate from 26th March 2009 - Route obviously not doing too well. Anyone booked on dates after this will be reprotected on LGW-UVF service.

Cheers for the news and a shame for those using it. I guess this route is far more suited to an A340-300 and in future the B787.

Having flown this route last month where the load was about 40% I cant say that Im surprised. I do hope that Manchester will get another route to replace it.
Virgin have a huge opportunity to make money from MAN with BA now only running shuttles to London
A routing to the west coast of the States or even a New York service to knock spots off the poor US carriers would be popular. There is a vast poulation in the North of England hoping to use the full Virgin product with Clubhouse, It just needs a push.

Mmmm, kinda figured something like this might happen. We should be ok as we fly out on the 1st Jan 09. Having said that, I am half expecting to be routing via LGW or similar as the flight at the moment is only about a fifth full ! Really hope we don't as we paid a little extra to fly from MAN in the first instance. All that said, who can blame VS if they did that with the current climate in the travel/leisure industry.

perhaps that will free up an aircraft to allow the ex-Alitali 747's to go for their D inspections.

Nice idea, although I would still rather see LAS ex LHR, better config and ties in much better with the other West Coast routes.

Where Heathrow and Gatwick are getting less and less flying slots surely as everyone has suggested VS should really replace it with an east coast route like New York which I think would generate a lot more custom, and not only that i would not have to keep giving some of my custom to BA to fly down to Gatwick.

Doesnt BMI already operate a MAN-LAS route? Doubt there would be enough pax for 2 daily direct flights. MAN-LAX would seem a better plan or maybe a MAN-DEN flight or something.

The BMI LAS flight is only 3x week on a Tues/Thurs/Sun other wise you have to connect, so there would be scope for more flights to LAS ex MAN. It is highly unlikely I imagine anything will replace UVF, it was only 1 flight a week and we know how stretched the LGW/MAN fleet is, this will just give VS more room for maneuver.

I would LOVE a Manchester to East Coast route. I live just outside of Philly but I'm from Manchester and head back there 4 or 5 times a year. The easiest flight for me is US Airways who have a direct daily MAN-PHL flight. However, US Air is horrible, and I'd rather go out of my way and sometimes pay a little more to fly to LHR from NYC airports. On the occasions I have taken US Air the flights have been pretty full, I think the demand would definitely be there for Virgin to have an East coast flight from Manchester. Can we start a petition?!
