V-Flyer

Hi

This is my first trip out of LHR and i wondered if some kind person could give me the benefit of their wisdom....

Flying to SFO the seat map is fairly free so i have taken 18A thinking that this will be somewhat private (facing the old ifbt wall) and near enough the front to hopefully snag my food of choice and hopefully a second glass of fizz before the plane runs dry [}:)]

I have checked the seating maps and they seem somewhat scant in their advice, hence my post. Is the forward cabin a peaceful as i am anticipating? Would 19a be even more private or is this narrower with the partition behind? Finally is there a better spot (I have discounted upstairs due to some recent trip reports).

Just returned from SFO in UC, and sat in 15K which was very quiet and peaceful. Less of an issue when flying out to SFO as its a daytime flight and the need for peace and quiet is less.

I found the whole of the front/A cabin very quite. The only thing I would say about 19 and maybe even 18 is that it is near the galley so you *might* get a bit of noise from there, but again as vizbiz said not so much of an issue on the daytime flight.

I found the rear/B cabin noisier, probably because it seems there are more suites in the space. If you want quiet why not try upstairs, now that will be quiet!.

Had 18 & 19k on a recent LHR 747 flight (LHR-MIA) and thought that these were excellent seats (nice and private). The front section was pretty quiet (apart from one 7 year old boy who couldn't stop talking for 9 hours... [ii] ) and we didn't have much noise from the galley.

I really like sitting in the 'nose' of a 747 when we get the chance (which isn't often).

Go upstairs if you want peace and quiet, although i doubt there will be any available seats up there if your traveling soon.

If the flight isnt very full i find that the B section is often quiet with far less seats occupied. I have sat in 18A before and found it reasonably quiet, probably more so now the IFBT is not with us.
