Someone (a Virgin Crew Member) has started a page on facebook called 'I survived the Alitalia five' in which certain crew have posted comments like 'I love the LGW fleet, I mean where else do you get on an aircraft with 452 chavs?' and 'Have you heard about the cockroaches too?! Hmmmm, thank god I dont do alot of LGW!' and also comments about technical issues.[V]

I really cannot believe people are stupid enough to do this as you are writing a comment on a public site using your own name and showing your own photograph.

After all the topics on here about how a good crew makes a flight these idiots go and spoil it for the majority of the excellent crew some of which post on here.

Link

I got as far as the Chav post and gave up, and these people are putting their faces to the comments! To say any aircraft is unsafe is rather stupid really considering how old these planes are.

In my company HR now looks through facebook as part of the reference process, I hope these people understand what they are doing for themselves.

The words deathtrap are used as well, these numties even put photo's up.

Really quite insulting.

As of now about 1000 people on The Dibb have seen it, a site that VA and VH advertise on.

Shocking idiocy and a sick thing to do to ones fellow staffers.

I know I cannot copy the thread for legal reasons but the forum starts with words along the lines of 'We all know which ones we're talking about. Good old ROS/GAL/LIP/ROM/ROY! These poor planes have been used and abused and are verging on deathtraps!'

Do they not realise that just because not everyone can JOIN the group, doesn't mean that not everyone can SEE the group?! How ridiculous. There's nothing smarter than slagging off the company that you work for on a public website.

I sincerely hope disciplinary action is taken, it's wholly warranted.

Ummmm. Aren't these aircraft YOUNGER than most of the other 744's in the fleet???

I am mortified to see that group on facebook.

I am amazed at the stupidity of what they are doing. As they say, the actions of a minority of idiots will no doubt affect the majority! Has anyone thought to post a message pointing out the insance behaviour on the site?

I agree with the OP that the majority of crew work hard to make our flights a memorable occasion, but it is the element like those on this Facebook site that leave passengers looking to go elsewhere[V][V]

You will earn respect if you will treat people with respect - perhaps they have not picked up this little gem in thier life training skills

God some people are just so stupid. I wonder what their thought process was. 'I know, its bloody tough times Virgin and the airline industry are going through lets publicly slag off the aircraft and the passengers, excellent idea, oh and just to top it off I will upload some pictures too' Idiots [V]

Half term week looms.LGW flights fit to bursting. 452 chavs ?? I think there'll be a lot of disgruntled passengers on lots of flights. If VS have any sense at all there will be some disciplinary action for these idiots (who have been considerate enough to add their mug shots, just so there's no disputing who they are).

Very very silly [n]

Someone has posted on cabincrew as a heads up to those who have posted and put a link to the Dibb, I think the Dibb is the least of their worries, it's all over other sites as well (including here of course).

Massive understatement

Now will the union back them when the company takes the disciplinary action?

This is where the mettle of Virgin's management will be tested.
The people behind these pages, and those members of staff contributing some of the more sensational allegations / comments MUST surely be committing some sort of disciplinary offence against their code of conduct - especially those who are pictured in uniform.

Will management allow it to continue?

What happens if Dibbers (or other nervous pax) cancel their flights; and claim on their insurance citing the fact that crew refer to the planes as 'death traps' - using the pages as evidence?

Talk about 'a few bad apples'. [V][:(!]

What muppets!!!

Come on, in this day and age where every social networking sites are viewed by companies (We know that VA looks at this site), do they really get away with these serious allegations and calling everyone who use LGW 'Chavs'.

The fact that they are so stupid and have made it so easy for VA to identify them will not stop them get some sort of serious disciplinary for gross misconduct, possibly even dismissal, I think the union will have a difficult job defending them especially the ones who are pictured in their uniforms.

Which then obviously makes it more difficult for them to get a similar job as VA will not give them a reference.

But hey-ho, if they stupid enough to do it then they going to face the consquences of their actions especially with the current financial climate.

Oh dear, not at all wise. Staff have been fired for posting pictures onboard other airlines (Delta).

Most comments are not that bad, but one or two have stated things that if they can link their profile & pic back to an employee record at Virgin will give them some difficult things to explain.

I notice The Dibb discussion has been removed by mods.
This whole business will do damage to passenger/crew relationships and may well end up in tears - or indeed in tribunals.

And the number of members has dropped from 57 to 56. I am pretty sure I know who has figured it out and tried to delete themselves, it will be interesting to see how long it takes for others to catch on.

Oh my god ! I can just see their managers' writing out their P45s as we speak! Personally these are my favourite a/c in the fleet. Even if what they said was true, you wouldn't post it on a public foum. Unfortunatley if you look at who the members are they are all very young and obvioulsy dont realise the consequences and wider implications of what they are doing. Disciplinaries here they come!

Unbelievable, the sheer gall or totally stupidity of those people, do they think no one else can see what they are writing, let alone posting their photos? [V]

I sincerely hope they are dealt with appropriately.

I think Face book should shoulder some of the responsibility too for allowing that kind of topic to go on.
