V-Flyer

We are flying to Nassau next month, booked with VH. Is our luggage likely to be booked right through to Nassau or will we need to collect it and recheck-in? If we need to collect it, do we actually have to go to the main check-in at the AA desk and do it that way? Or is there a transit check-in?

Generally you have to pick up you baggage whenever you go through the US. There used to be 'transit' facilities such as those used by Air New Zealand in Los Angeles, but these don't exist any more

There's usually airline 'recheck' desks before you come out of the customs hall - so look out for them

I'm sure that some other members know Miami better than I do...

The last time we did this with VH our bags were checked right through. US Immigration will deal with your paperwork in Nassau when you check in for you return flight. Best check with VH or VA to be sure.
