I was booked for 27th April-20th May 2009 but because of this situation and how it affects me I will have to move my holiday forward. Does anyone know what VH charge for this? I will move it forward a year exactly.

Everything will depend on the type of holiday you booked, the current availability and class of travel you are in.
I would venture to suggest that only VH could give you the definitive answer here.
I am sure you aren't the only ones who are having second thoughts about an upcoming US trip, but there are no guarantees that things will be that much better in another 12 months.

I suspect you will lose your deposit. I'm not aware of Travel Companies moving holidays due to economic conditions and poor exchange rates.

As far as I am aware VH have not released prices for 2010 yet.

If you wish to cancel the holiday you will lose the full deposit.
However, as it's so far in advance of the date of departure you should be able to pay an amendment fee of £25pp to change the date plus any price difference. There are exclusions to this rule though.
Unfortunately, at the moment VH are only booking up to December 2009 so you will need to wait for the new brochure to be released unless they can make special provisions for you.
Names can be listed for departure on specific dates even before prices and brochures have been released but as it's not a new booking the situation could be different.
I'd call VH directly to get the full information but all the T&Cs are listed on their website.

Thanks for the info...I rang today and they said I could move the dates forward in December as thats when the new rates come out and its £25 pp for the shift....no loss of anything...all monies moved. I am moving it simply to give us more time to save up as going PE and not going without when we are there is important to us. Also VH do not ask for a reason as to why you need to change dates...they seem happy you are moving the trip and not cancelling it.
