Miles Further - 15% off all

Did a search but couldn't find this anywhere.

I just noticed that the Miles Further offer extends to all Y redemptions... Up to 50% in January / February but 15% on all flights outside this period.

*For all travel until 31 December 2008 and from 1 March 2009, you will receive 15% off reward flights in Economy on forward bookings until further notice.

See Here.

Makes redemptions a little more attractive although Y will always be poor value compared to PE and UC.

Probably in place to balance out VS reducing the earnings for all but the top 4 economy fares from December 1st.

But you can apply the Amex T>U upgrade on these discounted economy miles awards as I found out today - so just 19250 miles each for a one way PE back from JFK [:D] to go with my 2 G outbounds. Wasted one leg of the PE upgrade but this is the first time I've found a use for them since they became Virgin Amex benefit.

Really ? I can use my Virgin Amex rewards with these discounted fares ?

If so, I need to look at where I can take my family somewhere nice during that period.

Who told you that? - they changed that a while back and put a rule in place to stop that.

I remember that thread and the updates you put to clarify matters. I would be surprised if they would combine those offers.

Well YMMV - I phoned up today (UC reservations as 2 x G outbound) today prepared to pay 22,500 miles each for the base for the T>U upgrade inbound and was told the (15% in my case)discount applied. I got her to double check because in my previous experience once you tried to apply the Amex the normal, published reward redemptions applied. She disappeared for a while and then came back to confirm the discount did apply. And I have my ticket!

This does seem to run contrary to t&c 4.2.7 E) unless this doesn't apply to the Amex upgrade vouchers? I guess we need more examples to be able to see if this is consistent or I got lucky today[?]

I think you got lucky - one of the flipsides of getting through to an agent that doesn't know.

Got to say I was told exactly the same by Premier Team last week. Looking at the possibilities of a quick trip to NYC and was given the taxes price plus the discounted mileage amount to use my AmEx PE upgrades.

The guy I was talking to sounded very on the ball and I was pricing up some other flights and he was giving me lots of different ideas and options.
