As the title says, is it possible to price/spec and purchase an open-jaws return trip via the VAA FC web site? From what I can see it's not possible?

Yes it is. There is a 'multi-city' button on the top right hand corner of the main flight search page, click on that and it brings up another screen so you can select different arrival/departure airports.
