Contour don't seem to have a leg to stand on in this case. Or, indeed, a seat. [:p]

This is quite an old story. It was discussed here about a year ago, but not heard any more on it since. Will be interesting to see what the outcome is.

MagicWok,

Can you edit your post to take out the section pasted from your link as this is a copyright violation. [:w]

I have removed the content pasted from the link because, as Dark Auror says, it is in breach of copyright and against forum rules

MagicWok, the link you posted was sufficient

Good work all you -- MagicWok needed a good spanking and several of you were on hand to deliver it.

MagicWok, don't worry. What they meant to say was, 'While this has been covered here (insert link) already, we appreciate your coming to V-Flyer and are all interested to see the outcome of this case. We're going to also edit your post as our rules do not allow us to post copyrighted material. Thanks so much!'

That's what we did say, just took 3 of us and some mod editing to do so! So stop your jibba jabbaring [:p]

Some of the replies seemed a bit sharp to my ear, but you're all sweet little cuddlebugs and I'm sure MagicWok will understand that over time.

Given that it's taken a year to get to court, looks like Contour aren't prepared to settle or are just playing hardball.

misleading topic headline

Before reading the topic I thought that Virgin may have been complaining to the manufacturer that the new UC suite had turned Virgins upper class passengers into a pain in the ar*e

Judging by the over reaction to MagicWok's innocent mistake, you might be quite near the truth! [:D]

Over reaction? Not quite, it was pointed out and changed by a mod due to copyright rules, hardly a 'over reaction'[?]

Sorry, my humour didn't work..I was referring to the fact that at the time I wrote 'over reaction' there were just 12 posts and 50% (6) of those were regarding what looked to be an easy mistake for a newbie to make. Just delete it and tell him - no drama.

I didn't intend to pick an argument, it just didn't seem a very friendly place to be?

Maybe confusion all around then, plus my 'humour' was turned on very low yesterday so I appologise for not picking up on what you intended.

We are a very friendly bunch here, but there are rules and the copyrighted info needed removing. I personally don't think it was done in an 'unfriendly' way, but I guess that is sometimes the trouble when you are reading things, two people reading the same thing can often interprite it in very different ways. No harm done though[:)]

No worries [:)]

Getting back on topic... What's the betting Contour have changed the seat design for the rival airlines sufficiently so that they actually believe they've cleared the patent? If it is a case of arguing over exactly what design elements the patent includes, then these cases are notoriously difficult and expensive. Trouble is, so much of this sort of design can revolve around personal judgement. Lets hope Virgin have got some clear specifics on their design patent.

Here are the detail of the claim - http://www.ipo.gov.uk/ep1495908.pdf

and this is (I believe) the details of the patent, but it won't open on my Mac. Link

That's an interesting argument Darren. (good find, thanks. - I get the first two pages of the patent with safari on my mac, but not sure if there's anything after?)

So it all depends on exactly how the upper class passengers can sit on their seat and swivel !!! [:w] oh, and the footrest as well. Lets hope the commercial advantages of protecting this design outweigh the legal costs of enforcing it. [:?]
