Definitely a BMi flight. Dont forget that full fare Economy (booked in Y) also qualified for 1 TP. Sometimes they are a little cheaper than business. Perhaps a Christmas shopping weekend in Brussels or Amsterdam?
Thanks,
Sarah

BMI business class flight?Nick
Interesting. Will see if there is a one-way flight to somewhere close and then easyJet/train back. Cheers.

Also, how quickly would tier point be credited to his account? And if they were credited after Dec 31st would the system be clever enough to work out that Gold should have been renewed then? (apologies for all the questions)

Just found a business saver for £204 one way to Edinburgh. I assume that would count as a business class fare?

Yes, that would count, and so would a full fare Economy.
Thanks,

You could do a MAN-LHR in a Economy Flexible (Y) for ~£165. You'll get lounge access too.

Just make sure that he has bmi swipe his current gold card at check in and his miles/TP should go on automatically. It for some reason they do not, he will need to post in his boarding card and his ticket receipt with booking class on it to get that credit. If this happens after the 31st, they can make him gold again, but not until February 1st, as it is a FC system thing...

Thanks for the info; where does it say about full fare Economy getting tier points on the Virgin site? Apologies if I am being blind and not seeing it.

Its kind of in here
hereBmi full Economy fares ticket as a Y fare (you'll see it listed as YBMI when you book) and these are classed as 'business' in the above link so will earn 1 TP.

I have benefited from these fares myself, its just not very well publicised. I haven't had any issues handing over my FC card at check-in and getting the points either.
Thanks,
Sarah
