Noticed I can book a flight on Virgin's website from Dublin. Is this new as I used to live in Ireland and I could never book my trip all the way through to the states without having to call the call centre.
Why am I expected to answer? [V] I live in Cork
Actually I did a dummy booking just to see what the price was like and at the fare page it gave the message that they were unable to process the request and to call reservations - so no change there

Indeed you can [y]
Good to see that facility back again. Some years ago you could choose DUB as the origin, but then it vanished off the site.
Tried a dummy booking for May to IAD & the fare in 'Z' came in at Eur 2699.40.
Similar enough to BA's 'I' class fares, except that with VS you are with BMI on the feeder & it quotes that as 'Z' too. So I wonder do you get to be up front with BMI ??
Whereas with BA you're on EI for the feeders & there the 'Premium Experience' ends [n]

.......Maybe because they are both in Ireland, here is a map in case you are confused link [:p]
Ah but, you need to understand that HL lives in 'The Peoples Republic of Cork' [8D]
Dublin is merely some meaningless place, up the country & as such is barely worthy of consideration or mention [:w]

kered is quite right. [y]
I did another dummy booking, this time to New York (my last one had been to SFO which would have incurred an overnight stay at LHR which is probably why it could not be booked) and was delighted to see it priced in Euros. However I wasn't best pleased to find that the DUB-LHR leg was coming in at well over Û500 return [:0]

Yeah the DUB-LHR feeders seem to be priced at full fare, whereas the Long Haul sectors are at a discounted fare. SO you pay quite a high price to get to & from London. That Eur500, for the DUB-LHR flight is pretty much what a 'C' class booking DUB-LHR rtn would be on BMI's own website.
Always been the same with BA too. You're very often much better off to book the Long Hauls, ex LHR/LGW & do the feeders under a separate PNR. But the downside of that is you don't benefit form the increased baggage allowances you get with VS UC & are stuck with the paltry allowances between DUB & LHR on the feeders.
Then of course separate PNR's can be quite risky, when it comes to delays etc.
I have found though, that by booking with a TA, they get a consolidated fare ex DUB/ORK with BA, which often comes in way cheaper than BA's website & give through checking of baggage, with full weight allowance under a single PNR.
Never been able to get similarly competitively priced fare with VS though. They always came in thousands more expensive than BA, when booking ex Ireland. Ex London was the only way to go. But now I wonder with the advent of BMI / VS code shares, perhaps my TA can get a consolidated fare with VS ex Ireland.
Thing is though that BMI's schedule out of DUB doesn't lend itself too well to a through booking, as evidenced by ÒHL'sÓ experience with the SFO booking, requiring an overnight in London.
Something easily done on separate PNR's
Oh the puzzle of it allÉÉ[:?]
