V-Flyer

Yesterday I saw two VS 747s land in Las Vegas. The first was an older paint job around 2pm and 'Birthday Girl' around 3pm. When I looked at schedule flights they were both from Gatwick listed as VS43 and VS43A.

What's the explanation behind this?
