Apologies if this has been covered.

Back in September I remember reading on the Virgin website

'In N class Nairobi, Mauritius and all US and Caribbean routes will earn 1 tier point per sector. All other routes will continue to earn you 2 tier points per sector.'

I think this was from 1 December.

However I have just searched the website and can see no mention on this restriction. Under Earn Miles, the Mileage Calculator and the terms and conditions it just says 4 tier points and even mentions N class.

So did this change or not.

Just affects how I get back to Gold.

Thanks

From 1st December, all Y classes now earn 2 TPs, although the mileage earned is down to only 50% on certain Y fares.

Thanks Neil

Y classes always earned 2 TP's - didn't they? I thought it was the discounted classes e.g. N that have changed by dropping from 2 to 1.

But why does the virgin website and terms and conditions not state this. Still says N class is 4 tier points (return) to NY. No mention of lower rate as far as I can see.

T&C's

3.3.3 Tier points are earned for each qualifying one-way flight taken as a Flying Club member. The number of tier points earned per qualifying Virgin Atlantic flight is determined by the fare class paid. Tier points earned per one way to all Virgin Atlantic destinations with the exception of Sydney are: 5 for Upper Class, 3 for Premium Economy and 2 for Economy travel.

Calculator states the same.

Is it somewhere I have missed.

Yes I *think* it has now changed as Neil says, all economy fares (including N fares) now earn 2 TP's per leg as of Dec 1st 2008.

N fares still earn 50% miles as before, but now so do Q, X and V fares too [n] [n]

This is now for all routes as well.

Before December 1st 2008, N fares only earned 1 TP per leg on US, Caribbean, Mauritius and Nairobi routes. All other routes have always earned 2 TP's per leg for N fares.

James has it right. All economy fares now earn 2TP's (from 1st Dec) whilst before N class on certain routes was only 1, it is mainly the miles earned that has now changed. The VS site is now fully correct and up to date.
