I'm returning from Las Vegas 11th Jan PE and have airmiles I've never used (60k+ currently).

How would I check if it was possible to upgrade the return leg to UC? Can I just call FC and ask and if so, could they upgrade me there and then if there was availability?

I've checked and there are still full fare seats available in the UC cabin for the VS44 that day.

You are best calling FC. There will need to be G availability, not full fare availability for you to upgrade with miles. Also if you want to use miles, you will need to be on an upgradable fare, (S/W from PE).

VS8 has availability 50,000 total miles
USD 211.50 total taxes, fees and surcharges

Just do a dummy booking on the web site after logging in to your FC account. One way, spend miles. If it offers you a fare there is availability so get on the phone!

Thanks all, called FC and currently no availability so I'll check whilst in country and if all else fails I'll try on the day of return. OOI what do Uc or Au passengers do for lounge access at McCarran? I'm a member of two lounge access schemes, one has no lounges at McCarran and the other only has lounges in the main terminal!

And it's the sh*t-est 'lounge' in the world...

...well, maybe shared with the 'room' they use at PVG. [}:)]

In addition to Neil's spot, 50k miles [?]
OP wants to upgrade from PE to UC for 1 leg - round trip upgrade is 40k miles, so a 1 leg upgrade = 20k miles, n'est-ce pas? [:)]

I've upgraded a few times at the check-in at LAS .I believe check opens at 10a.m so I got there just after and was upgraded in 5mins for 20k miles. You can then get a taxi back to the strip and chill.(gamble in my case)

Now lets not be too harsh, the new room we used in March wasn't too bad. Any lounge that has those massage chairs will always be an improvement over a Servisair lounge. It had free Wifi.

Now the 'First Class' lounge at LAS - yes that is dire.
