Booking somemore flights shortly (loads of 'G''s about) and looking for a little advice

Connecting flight from LGW to EDI is horrendous on the inbound date. Arrive into LGW around 8.30am (depending on delays) and closest shuttle up to EDI is around 3pm.

No arrivals lounge now, so here's the options.

1. Have PP so sit in the lounge till I fall asleep
2. Upgrade my shuttle so at least I get into the BA lounge and get a shower
3. Get a day room at the Hilton lounge.

OR

Fly back from MIA into LHR, enjoy revivals and get a shuttle up quicker.

The pros being get VPort, get arrivals lounge and get home a little quicker.

The cons being 3 hour drive to MIA (never done before), trying to find MIA airport, find the carhire return place and negotiate an airport I have never been to and more importantly lose the last day of the trip.

Any thoughts ?

thanks

Fly from MCO to MIA - we have done it and it is not a chore.

I would fly back ex MIA but still do the drive. I would personally rather do as much travelling before you fly home because I know when I land back in the UK I just want to get back to my own home as soon as possible. The day of your return flight home is usually just a wasted day of waiting around and not doing much so a 3 hour drive will at least give you something purposeful to do!

Another vote for MIA for Revivals / v-port etc.

Another consideration may be getting the train back up north.

Whilst flying back may be the quickest option, the train service on the East Coast mainline is very good and, if you book well in advance, there are some very goos deals to be had - especially in first class.

When our plane was delayed last July, we missed the train we were booked on (cheap tickets are only valid on one train), but we just took the ticket to the booking office at St. Pancras, explained the situation and the ticket was endorsed for the next train out. No charge. [y]

Definately MIA, v-port, revivals. Have you considered a cdc from MCO to MIA could anyone confirm it will travel that far out? i believe it does.

cheers

Another vote for MIA (much as I detest the airport)as it makes the onward journey once back in the UK easier (with the bonus of v-port and Revivals). The journey by car from MCO is easy even if the car rental return is a nightmare to find at the moment due to the on-going roadworks.Plenty to do around MIA for a few hours as well.

One option, I don't know how it fits into what you're doing in Orlando, but how about driving down to Miami the day before and staying the night there, and then you'll have the day of the flight there too. Plenty to do, obviously nice beaches and plenty of good hotels with decent rates at the moment. The drive down the Florida Turnpike from Orlando to Miami isn't too bad, I've done it in less than 3 hours.

Thanks Guys - too much choice now [:D]

It's more the loss of the last day, (which has now gained a nice little routine of check-in at Downtown Disney around half nine, back to the pool for another 3 hours, a nice lunch and then leave the resort around 4ish for the airport) thats really bothering us more than anything.

However .... I have a cunning plan [}:)], as it's a reward flight, would I be able to book a 'reward 12.5k' limo from LGW to LHR, retaining the whole of the last day but still getting back to EDI before lunchtime the next day ?
