Sounds as though all safe, cause in question, checks being made.

Am always interested in why people post, this was your first ... ?

Saw it earlier on RTE news. I was going to post but decided it had only been reported as this was a slow news day

Hi Slinky

Yes, this was my first post and maybe not the best of introductions, so, hello! I signed up a few years ago, but a few things happened and I forgot about the forum[:I]. I am a loyal VS follower and was looking today for flights to Chicago and came accross this story and the forum again, so thought I'd post it!

Looking at the VS website, it was obviously a very minor event as the flight took off again within the hour.

The cause was faulty wiring in the forward galley.

156 passengers doesn't seem to healthy for the airline.

Although I suppose its not how many where onboard, but how much they paid?

Some days you get low loads. It's not unknown for the ORD flight to be rammed full.

Agree with Darren. We have heard of ORD cancellations because of light loads, but the recent TRs by mitchja showed the plane can be full as well. [?]

Exactly, there is a post I did ways back (meaning good luck finding it) that went through a flights revenue stream.

Pretty much you fill W and J and everything else is profit.

Cargo is the wild card, depending on what it is a flight can go out empty of pax and still make money.

If I get a chance I will throw one of my old hard drives in and find the spread sheet I did.

ORD is a relatively new route too, isn't it? And with the weather being what it is, why travel?

I used to do CDG-ORD around Jan/Feb a lot in the late nineties, more often than not AF had half-full flights...

ORD restarted about 15 months ago having been halted after 911. I've seen it chocka and almost empty but apparently it's an excellent route for cargo and UC loads are often good.
