We are looking at going on Hol to the Bahamas this year possibly in June. We can't go direct with VS but were wondering if we could do something like Heathrow to Miami and then onward from there with someone else. Would we have to book with VS and someone else ro could we do all through VS. We wont to do Upper if we can

Slightly OT but referring to my trusty aspirational V-Hip Hotels brochure VH support that route with VS to Miami and then A.N. Other, though it doesn't say who the latter is.

Number of options:

1. VH offer the Bahamas book with them and they will normally route you via MIA on VS.

2. Use a travel specialist such as Trailfinders and get them to route you via MIA.

3. Ring up VS and see what they can do. I am not sure if they only offer you onward flights on VS FC partners. If that is the case then I would imagine you will be going via EWR on CO.

4. Book direct with VS to MIA, taking advantage of any sale and then book a separate flight onwards with AA or such like. Disadvantage will be your bags, I would imagine, will now be checked through to the Bahamas.

MIA-NAS seems to be served by Bahamasair and American (Eagle)only.
MIA- Grand Bahama is served by American (Eagle).

A really long shot if you want the smaller LGW UCS cabin would be to fly LGW-MCO then book onto Jetblue who are about to start MCO-NAS.

If your into your aviation I would recommend flying Bahamasair as I believe they are one of the last operators of the Boeing 737-200.

We did a VH to the Bahamas in November - to visit our son who lives there. We did indeed go via MIA - hideous airport - but that was nothing compared to the American Eagle flight to and from Nassau! That was ghastly. If you have the opportunity to book your own - I urge you to do so.Though I don't know if Bahamas Air is any better.

When i visited the Bahamas it was VIA MIA on VS then American Eagle to MAS, just like Gilly. My flight wasnt that bad, a very quick hop across the water but no service onboard (and only 1 FA onboard). I was just surprised to get a Fokker as I hadnt been on a prop plane before. Its the only time I have felt nervous while flying as I was seated behind the prop on this tiny 1x2 config aircraft. Views on arrival were amazing though.

Willd has listed the various options for you. Both VH and VS can book the flights for you. I'm 90% sure that VH will book you on American Eagle VIA NAS (as it was when I travelled). VS can also book your connection if you ourchase just your flight with them. I'd check around to get some prices as you'll need to weigh up the VH upgrade prices against VS and then agianst what any travel agents can offer.

Have a great holiday! [y]
