I am looking at a Rental car while we are in Boston.

If I select an Au AWD with Avis, it is 121 pounds
If I select an Ag & Red AWD with Avis, it is 117 pounds

Why is the Au price higher ?

because they think you have more money ?

The Avis codes VS have are a waste, if you can wait a couple of hours I will PM you with some.

Also look on flyertalk as they have a list of the current codes.

Hell if I remember correctly even Sun's rates are better than the VS ones, though that might be with the US AWD#. You should be able to use that pretty easily depending on how you set up your Avis select profile. If you want to try some ones other than the codes Dave sends, I'll PM you the Sun US AWD.

Yes, but as an employee of Sun, I know that the AWD rate does not include Insurance, because the company self insures any rental wreck etc. So the rental costs are lower.
The only time I ever got a good deal was using my CA driving license, as US$ deals are always better, visitors get ripped off compared to US$ pre-booked rates.

So I always buy a fully comprehensive package when traveling on vacation.

While I have never had an accident in the US, I did have to handle the death of one of my engineers in a car accident in a company rental. The fact he let his girlfriend drive uninsured, ultimately cost him his life, and us as a company a big headache in sorting out the aftermath.

A 5 day rental for 117 is not too bad, as on corporate rates, we pay similar, and get days 6 and 7 free.

Clearly I would love to pay less, but I doubt I'll do much better.
