I don't, but what I do tend to do is plant a tree in my back yard, truth be told it is normally to replace one that could not make it through the Vegas summer, but I still feel like I am doing my part.

I am just wracked with guilt and remorse when I am flying after working my preverbials off all hours of the day for 6 months to a year to pay it....not.

I'm just very suspicious of the whole carbon offsetting thing, I always try to be green but this just reeks of a money making scheme. And I'm not usually that cynical about environmental efforts.

Maybe VA could be green by waiving the Credit Card fee and using that to offset carbon?

I don't give money to charities in the street, or to companies that cold call me at home and for the same reasons I won't be swiping my credit card mid flight in order to feel a little better by the time I land.

But I choose a more efficient method than most.
A 747 transatlantic produces some 250-300 tonnes CO2 - say 1 tonne per pax.
Radiative forcing requires this to be multiplied by 2.
So 4 tonnes per return trip.
Coolearth working with Fauna & Flora International, highly respected organisations, will 'sell' you the equivalent of 260 tonnes CO2 offset for £100. And you will do something really positive in saving rainforests at the same time!

About £1.50 or $2 for a transatlantic trip!

Anything over that could be profiteering from climate change guilt.

I could probably sell tickets on a flight to people who'd want to watch if someone approached mid-flight asking me to pay towards carbon-offsetting.
