VS Credit Card Charge

This is interesting.....ish.

When I booked my flights, I paid a credit card fee on the cost of the flights.

But when I paid for my upgrade, there was no credit card charge applied. And the cost of the upgrade came to the same price that there were selling if I'd booked that way in the first place.

So I saved the credit card fee on the upgrade cost.

I wonder if it would work if you booked Y, paid credit card fee for that portion, and then upgraded?

Potentially risky? VS might not offer the upgrade after confirming?

Maybe this is just a mishap and not routine.

I know in the past I have had several 'mistakes' from Virgin that ran in my favour. Most frequent occuring is (was) not being charged for date changes on flights departing LAS.

But VS said they have to charge the fee, there was absolutely no way they couldn't not charge for it? [:?]

Is it not correct that there is only a fee if the originating sector was the UK. Perhaps if the upgrade was for only one sector not from the UK no fee applies?
