On boarding VS10 yesterday, the gateman was standing there with his paperworl out on the side. As I glanced down, I noticed that it said the secure aircraft cleaners boarded at 21:00 and left at 21:08......only 8 minutes to clean and A340-600....I hope that there was a lot of them!!!

I cant remember where i heard it but i think that cleaners spend about 6 seconds per economy seat and 12 seconds business/first class seats.

http://dailynightly.msnbc.msn.com/archi ... 05702.aspx <- This was on NBC Nightly news last night - yes, it's me that watches Sky channel 505 at 11:30! ;o) I can't find the video, but they were talking about 2.5 minutes per plane, and that United have employed a Director of cleaning to check the seats for stray chicken mcnuggets!

Worst thing I've found was just some nasty chewing gum, or one of those damn Virgin Vie wetwipes, so I count myself lucky!

Found the video at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/#29357039 - you'll have to suffer 30 seconds of adverts first though!

I've seen empty cans (which i can only guess have been left from previous flights) rolling around the cabin floor several times during take off from LHR when flying VS so it looks like there's actually very little effort goes into A/C cabin cleaning even when he A/C is back home.

Cleaning is one of the easiest ways to skimp and save money, but you get what you pay for. In the long run it has got to be another false economy.

Its not only the seats and floor they need to clean. I was in UC to Vegas last year and the ceiling where the air conditioning vents are located was filthy with dust.

Obviously hadn't been cleaned in weeks or even months.[n] Three extra seconds should do it.[:w]

I usually find salt and crumbs in the side pocket and the arm thing that goes up and down on the Suite. I am a bit of a freak about cleanliness so it makes me balk when I see bits n crumbs on my chair.

I put my hand into the pocket on the seat back to take out the in flight entertainment magazine and brought out my hand covered in what I can only assume was chocolate pudding or squishy chocolate cake. Absolutely disgusting [V]
