Removal of VS045/018 from timetable

Hi guys,
I made a post about a week or two ago regarding flight VS045 from LHR to JFK on 9 May and whether or not it would be pulled from the current schedule. I found out yesterday by logging onto my booking that both my outward flight (VS045 LHR-JFK) and the inward flight (VS018 EWR-LHR) have been pulled. Both me and my companion have been reprotected onto the VS009 LHR-JFK and the VS002 EWR-LHR which buggers up our plans that we have made both in New York on the evening we arrive and especially when we land back in the UK. The question I have is that can we ask to be moved onto another flight (without incurring any extra charges) seeing as the new changes dont suit us? I tried ringing Reservations last night, but ended up going round in circles and spent 40 minutes on the phone to someone who really wasn't interested in helping me with my enquiry.
If anyone could give me any pointers or offer any advice on what options are avaliable to us in this situation then I would be very greatful to you.
Many thanks
